The Good:
Some of you know, Jean and I snuck away from South Africa for a few weeks to attend a dear friends wedding and attend some Iris leaders meetings in America. We enjoyed a week with Jean’s family, a week with our Iris family (and celebrated Heidi’s 50th birthday), and one week with my family. As always, our time has flown by☺ Now we are looking forward to retuning home to South Africa this weekend!
The Bad:
A week after leaving, our home in Backdoor, SA was broken into. The thieves broke in through the garage and sawed through some bars to get into the house. Somehow they must have been interrupted (angel maybe?) because they left the Bible school DVD player and our CD player by the window where they came in. We still do not know what was really taken, but the thieves must have been rather disappointed- ha, ha!
The Beautiful:
The next day our staff filed a report with the local police and someone was sent out to the house to collect fingerprints. Frank and Cindy (amazing missionaries who work with us) showed Peter, the fingerprint guy, around and began to minister to him. A conversation got started because he also took the fingerprints from a previous break-in at our base. He shared how had never gotten saved before and wanted to feel something from God. He prayed and the Holy Spirit really came on him- he began bowing down and started crying. Cindy also talked with him about how he came to look for fingerprints but now God’s fingerprint is on him. Fingerprints are so unique!
A week later, Peter showed up at church Sunday morning at 9:00 and waited for church (which starts at 10:30) and at the end of the service he testified! It turns out he even had a dream about white people praying for him and he told a guy at work who was giving him a hard time about it. Just a few days later, he came to our house/church and got transformed!
